Diane Kruger born in 15 July 1976 is an actress from Germany. German model, actress and model. in North America, she is famous for her roles as Helen in Troy as well as the character of Dr. Abigail Chase in National Treasure and National Treasure: Book of Secrets, and Bridget von Hammersmark from Inglourious Basterds.

Childhood and early life

Kruger was born Diane Heidkruger in Algermissen, Germany close to Hildesheim. Her parents are bank worker Maria-Theresa and computer expert Hans-Heinrich Heidkruger. Her family was Roman Catholic and attended a Catholic school. Diane did not consume alcohol until she reached the age of 20 due to the negative effects from alcohol in her family. Her mother took her to exchange programs for students as a teenager to help improve her English. Kruger was raised in Germany together with her older brother Stefan. As a youngster Kruger was determined to become ballerina. She was able to audition at The Royal Ballet School in London. But, when an accident caused her to quit ballet prematurely and she relocated to Paris and shifted her focus towards modeling.

Kruger emigrated to Paris and began modeling. She represented the country in the “Elite Model Style in 1992. She also was able to secure advertising assignments for brands such as ‘Yves Saint Laurent,’ Chanel,”Giorgio Armani and ‘Christian Dior etc.

She hosted runway shows in collaboration with Marc Jacobs, ‘D&G, as well as Sonia Rykiel. She also appeared on the front cover of fashion magazines such as “Vogue Paris,” “Cosmopolitan, and others. After many years of modeling her career, she decided to quit modeling to pursue acting.

She began taking acting classes at the “Cours Florent. It helped her get cameos in several French films. It wasn’t until 2002 that she managed to get the role of a film called ‘The Piano player..’

As of 2003, the actor portrayed the leading role in “Julie Wood” in the French film called “Michel Vaillant which starred Sagamore Stevenin. The film was directed by Louis-Pascal Couvelaire and written by Jean Graton.

She was the character ‘Lisa “Wicker Park,” an American psychological mystery film that debuted in 2004. She starred alongside Josh Hartnett and Rose Byrne. It was a remake the French film “L’Appartement.’

Mark in Quentin Tarantino’s war documentary Inglourious Basterds (2009), and Gina in the psychological thriller film Unknown (2011). Kruger also played The Detective Sonya cross in her role in the FX the crime-drama series The Bridge (2013-14). In 2017 she made her debut as a German-language actress as Fatih in the film In the Fade, for which she received the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress.
